County Waste Helps the Rodino Family PDF Print E-mail

The Rodino’s were hit with a double blow this past year, with both son Anthony and daughter Gianna diagnosed with Huntington’s disease that took the life of their sister Rachel and has disabled their father Rick.  In an effort to ease community fundraising burdens and help the family, neighbors have gone to the monthly businesses that the Rodino’s are struggling to pay, and asked for a year of reduced fees as the family decided how to proceed.

County Waste immediately stepped up to the plate by offering a free year of rubbish removal for the family. The company normally does not do this but district manager Rich Gelowitz said the story pulled at his heart strings.

Helping Hands Car Show Supports the Rodino Family PDF Print E-mail

A car show on Saturday 7/14 at Crossgates Mall, benefited the Rodino family of Guilderland. The family has already lost their 8-year-old daughter to Huntington's disease, and now three other family members are struggling with the disease.

Organizers say they try to hold a few events a year to help the Rodino's in any way they can.

"Every once and a while we try to get a bunch of folks together to raise money for the family so we're doing what we can do," said organizer, Steve Wacksman. The event raised $510.00 for the local family.

Saturday's event featured trophies, music, a fifty/fifty raffle, and goody bags to the first 50 cars.
